Spalted Maple
Can be used as a veneer or
top this is figured maple
with a special fungi that
has grown in veins through
the grain during the curing
process. The amount of
discoloration from the "Spalting"
process varies greatly from
log to log. |

Black Walnut
Used as the backing on our
Neck-Thru Models for Spalted
Maple, Buckeye Burl &
Redwood Burl, this warm and
rich tone wood can also be
used in solid form for wings
on our neck-thru models.
It isn't necessarily
"exciting" wood in terms of
grain pattern, but it makes
a great sounding material
for construction. Many
of the first Spector® NS-1™
and early NS-2™ models from
the late 1970's had solid
Black Walnut wings.
